The Kompakt label is extremely excited to release the sixth album by one of the most well-known electronic music acts in history, Iceland's legendary Gus Gus. You could compare 24/7 to a whale - an animal that spends most of its time under the surface, but when it comes up above sea-level, it usually surfaces with magnificent splendor. Therefore, you should not glean over this work; every moment of it is laid out with painstaking and elaborate care. The spine of this music is Gus Gus' own invention -- growling synths, vibrational squelches, and rhythmic synth pulses that build and build towards analog climaxes so sublime as to be almost unbearable. This album also marks Daniel Agust Haraldsson's vocal return to the band, for the first time since the group's 4AD releases. As on previous occasions, Gus Gus performs a song written and sung by Jimi Tenor, and there is also a song that Gus Gus and Detroit's Aaron-Carl composed together while being on opposite sides of the Atlantic. 24/7 is an overwhelming, multifarious, interwoven and braided musical atmosphere where the listener has to surrender and adhere to the conditions that the music demands, for over 50 minutes.

Tracks:

1. Thin Ice

2. Hateful

3. On The Job

4. Take Me Baby (feat. Jimi Tenor)

5. Bremen Cowboy

6. Add This Song

“Like a giddy Scandinavian teen, to those synths, vast monoliths shuddering like the stadium speaker stacks from which this tune is destined to emanate…there’s more than a touch of power-ballad earnestness to vocalist Daniel Gust’s bended-knee delivery, which somehow suits the massive arrangement, as comfortable in heady Ibiza settings as on the Eurovision stage. After a hugely portentous intro the drums kick in, serving house needs, but it’s all about those goosebump synthesisers, quaking with pop heartache and trance urgency; the bar is set high for their forthcoming LP 24-7.”
