Saint Germain des Prés is more than a district of Paris, it is a whole universe on its own. Cut to small, smoky jazz clubs where artists and intellectuals would meet, witnessed by the likes of Albert Camus, Boris Vian and Jean-Paul Sartre. This quartier was also responsible for the post-war Be-Bop movement. This 11th volume of the St.Germain Café series celebrates just this heritage, with homage to the Jazz scene by today’s dance scene. This demanding and eclectic selection cuts a path through the latest jazz trends, with the welcome participation of Belleruche, who oversaw the mix of the second CD. Belleruche’s sound - a mix between hip hop, electro and blue - is unique, and took its influences from Sarah Vaughan’s voice, Django Reinhardt’s guitar, and Cut Chemist’s mixing desks. This trio from Brighton is made up of by Kathrin deBoer (voice), Ricky Fabulous (guitars) and Dj Modest(desks).
